Ferranti Mountaineering Club

The Ferranti Mountaineering Club welcomes everyone, from the young to the not so young, to come and join us and discover the wonders of the Highlands and the Islands of Scotland. The FMC promotes and encourages all aspects of mountaineering, whether it be hill-walking, rock and ice climbing, downhill ski-ing, ski-mountaineering or cycling. Our abilities range from the super-fit to the could-be-fitter and from Moderate to Extreme! Although based in Edinburgh, we currently also have members in Fife, Stirlingshire and Perthshire, proving that distance is no barrier to being a part of the club as long as you have an internet connection.

We have a weekend meet once a month on average - see Meets for more details. Prospective new members are welcome to come on one or two meets prior to joining the club.

We also have a small but keen climbing section which can regularly be found on one of the Fife crags in the summer and one of the Edinburgh climbing walls in winter. For details click here.

We are affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland.
