Morvich Camping Meet, 15-18 May 2004

Due to a double booking of the bunkhouse at Camas Luinie, the meet was moved to the campsite at Morvich - an excellent location for lots of hills. I’m not sure what hills were climbed on the Saturday as I arrived on the Saturday evening. Sunday dawned rather wet and unpromising, discouraging an early start, however eventually some of us set off to do the Corbett Sguman Coinntich near Camas Luinie. The newly bulldozed track was hard going and so the author turned back half-way up and managed to walk almost as far as Dornie before the others appeared in the car having done the hill! Some people bailed out on the Sunday evening leaving a select few to stay until the Monday morning. Rosemary

Family Meet to Glen Feshie Hostel, 6-8 August 2004

CIC Hut, Ben Nevis, 20-22 August 2004

I walked up to the CIC Hut on the Saturday afternoon to join Brian, Pete and Graeme. The next day Pete left early and Brian, Graeme and I climbed Direct Route 1 on the Douglas Boulder in dry but dull conditions. We had a few route-finding problems lower down but were rewarded with a fantastically exposed ledge for the last belay stance. The CIC seemed a long way beneath our feet! I was last off this belay and could not get one of Brian’s rocks out of its placement. The guys were out of sight and communication was impossible so I just had to unclip from it an leave it, offering to buy Brian a new one when I reached him. Not a bit of it! He abbed back down to get it! We all abbed into the gap at the top of the Boulder and walked out to the cars, arriving at the North Face carpark at a reasonable time for a change! Rosemary

Christmas Dinner Meet, Mill Cottage, Kincraig, 10-12 December 2004

This year the Christmas Dinner Meet was held at Mill Cottage, near Kincraig, due to refurbishment of Muir of Inverey. On the Saturday Calum, Keith, Tony and Rosemary climbed Carn Dearg Mor from Achlean. This was a very pleasant walk but prompted comment that in the past, it would have been the Sunday walk of the meet, not the Saturday!
